Rita L. (Sullivan) Almond, RN, wife of the late James H. Almond, passed away Saturday, August 5, in Somerset with her daughter, Julie, by her side. Born in Fall River, Rita was the daughter of the late John T. Sullivan and Helena M. (Bennett) Sullivan. Survivors include: son Stephen J. Almond of Brockton, daughter Julie M. Almond (husband Wayne Swift) of Fall River and son James T. Almond (wife Teresa) of Whitman; grandchildren Renee Elderkin, Lindsey K. and James J. Almond; great-grandchildren Arianna and Aaron Elderkin and Hayden Marie Almond and several nieces and nephews....

Rita L. (Sullivan) Almond, RN, wife of the late James H. Almond, passed away Saturday, August 5, in Somerset with her daughter, Julie, by her side. Born in Fall River, Rita was the daughter of the late John T. Sullivan and Helena M. (Bennett) Sullivan. Survivors include: son Stephen J. Almond of Brockton, daughter Julie M. Almond (husband Wayne Swift) of Fall River and son James T. Almond (wife Teresa) of Whitman; grandchildren Renee Elderkin, Lindsey K. and James J. Almond; great-grandchildren Arianna and Aaron Elderkin and Hayden Marie Almond and several nieces and nephews. Brother John E. Sullivan of Assonet and sister Mary Blackburn of Prescott, AZ predeceased Rita.

While raising her family, Rita pursued her dream of becoming a nurse and graduated from Diman Regional Vocational School as an LPN and in 1970 graduated from Bristol Community College's first nursing class as a Registered Nurse. She retired in 1988 from Charlton Memorial Hospital after twenty-two years of service. Rita cherished family times at the lot at East Beach in Westport and vacationing in Boothbay Harbor, Maine.

Rita's family extends sincere appreciation to the team of professionals at Clifton Rehab Nursing Center in Somerset who provided quality and compassionate care to Rita for many years and to our friend, Helen, at the information desk there.

Her Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at 10:00 AM in the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME AT CHERRY PLACE, 178 Winter St., Fall River. Visiting hours prior from 9:00 - 10:00 AM. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River. For tributes and directions, www.waring-sullivan.com
